Sisu, a Finnish cultural construct, is often synonymized as grit, perseverance, the will to move one step farther; however, Sisu is more than a trait or behaviour. Nearly every protagonist exhibits Sisu, from John McClain to Sam Gamgee--that force of will to keep moving forward; however, heroic narratives inflate the place of Sisu in lived experiences. Sisu simply is, and the hero's adventure reveals the character's already existing Sisu and the character of Sisu, itself. In every metric of happiness, the Finnish people top the list, many of them claiming it's due to having Sisu.
